This is a redraw I did of an older art from 2019 to see my evolution. The goal was to have some kind of stained glass effect, which I terribly failed back then. When I made this serie initially, I tried to do what I thought people expected from me, sticking to a somewhat realistic kind of colo (and turns out I was terrible at it anyway). It reached a point where when I did Revali (he was the last I did for that serie), I cried in frustration. Back then I was barely drawing, 4 arts a year and each of them would take me weeks or even months to finish (if I ever finished them...). I HATED doing colo and background. After this one I took some time to re-think my approach of art. Why was I even trying to do what I thought people would expect from me given I barely had anybody watching my stuff back then. Why was I drawing, for who, for what? And after this moment of self-reflexion I started embracing this very vibrant and unatural colo. If I couldn't have fun when I tried to do something realistic then I'd take the opposite road and embrace a totally unrealistic colo, something that would please me and give me fun. And that's how my vibrant artstyle was born. Not because I was good at colo but because I SUCKED at it and decided to embrace my weaknesses instead of avoiding them or trying to change them into someone else's artstyle. To this day ('cause I'm writing this post in 2025, I just put the date of the inital post of each arts) these redraw are still among my fav arts I ever did.
